The second course in the SABR Analytics Certification program, Level Two - Advanced Analytics in Baseball, provides a deeper study of the key concepts in baseball analytics - hitting, pitching, fielding, and baserunning metrics, park and league adjustments, replacement levels and WAR, as well as projections and economics - helping to develop critical thinking. While Level One provided an introduction to many of the metrics seen and heard in baseball analytics circles, this course will provide learners with a deep understanding of the theory behind these concepts, why they are calculated the way that they are, and how to best apply them considering their relative strengths and weaknesses. The goal of this course is to prepare learners to apply this knowledge and analytical ability to their own research - including the case prompt at the end of the course - and to be equipped for the technical skills introduced in Level Three.
